[Kaoru doesn't even comment on the presentation or the fact that Kojiro pulled out his chair for him when he sits down. It's all appreciated, but there's no way that he's going to acknowledge that fact. Instead, he waits for the other man to sit down before taking his napkin and laying it in his lap before asking the inevitable question.]
Well? Are you going to live with me?
[It's not flowers or sky writing. If Kojiro wanted that he should have fallen for someone else. This is Kaoru and Kaoru is practical and quickly cuts to the chase with things. It's why his barbs are so stinging when they fight.]
[ Kojiro sighs as he drops into his own seat across from Kaoru. He doesn't dig into his own food. Not just yet. Kaoru can practically see the cogs turning in his head -- or getting stuck and refusing to turn, as it were -- and it's hard to find an appetite past that kind of internal upheaval.
But he does take a long sip of his wine.
It's not like he needs some kind of grand overture. Somehow, after everything that's happened, after everything they've been to each other, it feels like it should be more involved than this. Maybe because nothing has ever come easy for them. But-- ]
Yeah, I'll live with you.
[ No point overcomplicating things that don't need to be hard, no matter what Kaoru's reasoning is for it. ]
We can figure out what to do with my place later, I guess.
[The smile behind Kaoru's glass of wine is brighter than it usually is. If it's from getting his way or the fact that Joe is going to move in with him is anyone's guess, but the later would be the correct choice.]
We'll have to buy a larger bed and clear a place for your equipment.
[Discussing the details immediately? Why yes, Kaoru sure is going to discuss those details that he's already been thinking about. He may have also moved some things already in anticipation for Kojiro's moving in, but he'll never admit it. His in home work space needed to be moved for other reasons.]
[ All right, if they're gonna stay in some kind of stalemate like this, the paella's gonna get cold, and it smells too good to let that kind of tragedy befall it. He wants to cross his arms and stare Kaoru down a little longer, but instead, Kojiro finally digs in. ]
Kinda sounds like you've been mulling this over for a while. Have you?
[ Kojiro eyes the kitchen, momentarily. ]
We're bringing my kitchen stuff too. You can toss yours.
[ Kojiro pauses through another sip of his wine. ]
And don't renovate your damn kitchen. I don't need all that. Just let me bring my stuff and we'll be gold.
[ It takes a few more seconds for the gravity of Kaoru's statement to sink in. He didn't act on impulse. So he has been mulling this over for a while; kicking around and laying the foundation for a concept Kojiro hasn't even allowed himself to consider. That's-- It's kind of wild, honestly. Surprising. Heartwarming. Kojiro leans back in his chair to fix Kaoru with a thoughtful glare. ]
The last time you were over there was cursing at my stove.
[There's another smile behind his glass before he puts it down. Honestly, Kaoru finds it rather adorable when Kojiro loses his temper.
At the stare Kaoru rolls his eyes. The other man is romanticizing things again. He's turning this into a damn romance movie (thank god it's not a drama, they have enough of that already). What's next, Kaoru running around the table and proposing? Fuck no, that's not going to happen!]
